This ranking helps you spend cash on units that pay for themselves before the next rebirth instead of decorating your plot with duplicate starter models.

S Tier — priority upgrades

Diamond Grinder

The Diamond Grinder is the backbone of most efficient mid-game lines. It processes Crystal and Dark geodes at a rate that keeps buyer queues fed without requiring premium Robux equipment. Two Diamond units on a shared conveyor often outperform one Laser Grinder bought too early — spread S-tier throughput before chasing single-machine flex.

Diamond grinders also respect offline ticks better than starter models. If you farm offline income, upgrading every active tile to Diamond before logging out beats buying one top-tier unit while leaving neighbors on Starter.

Laser Grinder

Laser Grinders enter S-tier once Prismatic geodes become your default purchase. Their purity bonus per cycle aligns with negotiation strategies that reject low offers until purity peaks. Laser is not S-tier on day one — without Prismatic input and upgraded belt speed, Laser price-per-output loses to dual Diamond setups.

Pair Laser placement with purity totems ranked on Totems Tier List for multiplicative gains rather than additive speed alone.

A Tier — excellent value

Steel Grinder

Steel Grinders dominate early mid-game. They are the first unit that makes Crystal geodes feel smooth instead of sticky. Buy Steel duplicates until you can afford Diamond — skipping Steel to save for Laser usually creates a throughput hole where geodes pile up and buyers leave.

Steel remains A-tier as secondary line filler on multi-conveyor plots. Not every belt needs endgame hardware; Steel on a side line processing overflow Basic or Stone geodes keeps main lines on Dark uninterrupted.

Quantum Grinder

Quantum Grinders sit at late-game A-tier (borderline S with full totem stacks). They unlock after multiple rebirths and excel at Celestial geode batches. Before that unlock window, Quantum is a savings goal, not an immediate purchase. Rush Quantum only when Geodes Tier List lists Celestial as your default ore.

B Tier — bridge units

Starter Grinder

The Starter Grinder is free or cheap during tutorial. B-tier because it must be replaced — not because it is bad for minute one. Keep exactly enough Starter capacity to learn placement, then budget your first Steel purchase before bulk-buying geodes above Basic tier.

Never rebirth into a plot of only Starter grinders unless you speed-run tutorial quests. Rebirth accounts should reinstall Steel or Diamond immediately using retained knowledge and multiplier cash.

Polished Grinder

Polished Grinders sometimes appear between Steel and Diamond in shop rotations. They are fine B-tier stopgaps when Diamond is one upgrade away but you need immediate throughput for a Dark geode shipment. Replace with Diamond as soon as price allows; do not sentimentalize Polished tiles.

C Tier — niche roles

Compact Grinder

Compact Grinders trade purity for smaller footprint. Useful in cramped layouts documented in conveyor guides, but C-tier for main lines because purity per dollar lags Steel. Use Compact on overflow belts only.

Twin Grinder

Twin Grinders process two geodes slowly in one tile. Sounds efficient but often loses to two Steel units in parallel once conveyor math includes belt cost. C-tier unless a patch buffs Twin output or you lack placement space temporarily.

F Tier — common mistakes

Maxing Starter duplicates

Buying five Starter Grinders instead of one Steel upgrade is the most reported early-game trap. Starter purity gain flatlines while geode tiers rise. F-tier spending pattern — consolidate into fewer, higher-tier units.

Laser before Diamond line

Single Laser Grinder on a Steel-line plot cannot feed Prismatic demand. F-tier purchase timing. Follow Diamond saturation first, as noted in Geodes Tier List when choosing ore.

Ignoring conveyor speed

Grinders do not operate in isolation. An S-tier Diamond on a slow belt behaves like B-tier Steel. Budget conveyor upgrades alongside grinder tiers; see layout guides after each grinder purchase.
